Only fitting that Sneaker Freaker Issue 24 features Kobe's kicks

What The Hell? Are these real or they some fugazi type $#!t? Well according to several folks, these Nike Zoom Kobe VII is the real deal and are called the "What The Kobe?" The inspiration is basically just a plethora of colors and designs combined together like they did once before with the "What The Dunk SB" but those were stoopid limited, these I hope will be kinder to the wallet and easily attainable by those that really wants them. (LIKE YOURS TRULY)

Sneaker Freaker No 24 feature the EWING Collection

I guess 2012 is as good as year to be releasing old school shoes as ever, with the non-stop barrage of Retros from Jordan Brand and Nike Sportswear, other companies are also looking for a slice of the pie. Of course adidas has always been the front runner in the retro market with their shell toes, they also brought back some old school bball kicks but they can't compete with what the swoosh is doing. Other companies like FILA brought back their Grant Hill shoes a few years back only to have it sit on the bargain bin. Reebok found a small niche for their retro offering in women's fitness and now they are set to bring back Allen Iverson's first signature shoe, The Question. So the time for many different basketball retro sneakers is now and that's why the EWING is finally making a comeback.

Reebok - The Question - Coming back on May 25, 1012

I am sure that if you know sneakers, then you've heard of Allen Iverson. People that knows nothing of basketball have heard of Allen Iverson. Best guard/point guard to come out of G-Town, a University best known for grooming centers. But in the 1996 NBA Draft, a class filled with talents, Allen Iverson was picked first by the Philly 76ers. Now, back in the mid 90s, not many high schoolers were known celebs like they are now. College players were the studs and A.I was the MAN. His G'Town games would be nationally televised more often that other schools, of course it helps that Georgetown is an Old-School Nike school and that they gave A.I & his mates baggy jerseys, shorts, shooting shirt. Of course back in 1996, the must have sneakers are just like they are now, the Jordan 11 Concords, and A.I had them on his feet with his G-Town unis. But the unthinkable happened, Reebok made him a lucrative deal. He is their MAIN-MAN. Gave him his signature shoe right off the bat. The Question - they called it. Kids went nuts. 5000 pairs released in Philly, GONE in 2 seconds. This was before the internet, no Twitter RSVP, people actually had to drive to the stores and buy them. A.I was a star coming in, but that shoe made him a rockstar. no more living hard for A.I & Ms. Iverson, BBQ everyday, driving fancy cars and even shook the G.O.A.T! A.I went on to win Rookie game MVP and Rookie Of The Year. That was a good year. Now, in 2012. Allen Iverson is not the same. He is not A.I anymore, lost a step due to injury and age. Got into too much drama with the league. Heck, he has no place in LeBron's NBA. So, he is ballin' in CHINA....but Reebok stuck with him. One of the reason John Wall went with Reebok, loyalty. Now, they re-issue A.I's first shoe in that red/white, no changes to the classic, the way it's supposed to be when honoring a legacy.

Nike Basketball loose face after Marc Gasol stepped on Blake Griffin's $200 shoe

Any publicity is good publicity am I right? That holds true if you are trying to release an album or a movie. Not when you are trying to sell shoes. Especially a pair of your signature team basketball shoes that's being offered at a mark up of $200 and was supposed to be made of lighter, better and stronger materials. The ironic part, it was stepped on by an opposing player wearing similar model shoes. So I take it these Hyperdunk Elite cannot be destroyed unless it decided to destroy itself? It sounds pretty cool from an angle, and am sure that many people probably didn't even pay attention to this when buying their kid's basketball shoes, but when you put out a $200 shoes and claimed it to be better that the regular model to justify the price increase and have it ripped on National TV is pure garbage. To have it on the feet of one of the most explosive NBA player makes it even more embarrassing. It just screams that Nike in general is so consumed by the idea of innovation, being the best and only cares about making $$ by putting a product that does not meet the exact specification of    it's target consumers, athletes.

Olivia Wilde - sneaker-fan-boy wet dream

Ok, so maybe she has not reached that status yet, but you know a lot of these kids are going to know Olivia Wilde from this pic because she had on a pair of the Jordan 4 White/Cement. Don't get me wrong; she is hot, and cute, and sexy, and pretty and I believe I saw her naked in a movie once or twice, but unfortunately these days, like many celebs that started wearing Jordan Retro, she is just doing so to get attention/publicity from that growing population of "sneaker-fan-boy".

Jordan Brand seems to be doing a great job reaching out to that market by outfitting the likes of Rihanna, Wale, etc. the type of celebs that are currently being adored by all kids age 10-16. Doubt any of them know any significance to the shoes, but then again with all these Retros, all meaning and significance has gone down the drain w/o a plunger. Everything has been so watered down that they just want to ensure sell-through instead of putting out products that people can believe in. I mean who wears retros to a charity fitness event such as the REVLON Run/Walk For Women?
